Flat plate PVR: This refers to solar panels that have flat plates as collectors. Arrays with flat plates use direct as well as diffused sunlight. Float life: The life span of a battery to keep its predetermined capacity, when maintained at float charge status.

Fuel cell: Refers to the device that translates fuel energy directly to heat or electricity, without actual combustion. The lack of combustion eliminates emission and absence of moving parts makes it a quiet cell.
