Site Surveys for PV Installations
You are here
- The site survey is crucial for getting the right positioning for the solar electric system. Spend sufficient time on the survey in order to get it right.
- Draw a sketch of the site and take photographs before starting on the design for your solar system.
- It is possible to mount solar panels on the roof or on the ground using a pole or a frame. Roof-mounted panels require a frame.
- There should be no obstructions that will shade the solar panels. This can become an issue during winter, when solar energy is especially limited.
- The batteries, inverter and controller need a suitable storage space.
- Short cables are preferred for reducing voltage losses. Long cables will require a higher voltage to compensate.
