Is an Electric Car Suitable for Everyday Life?: Page 2 of 2

You are here

    • for a conventional combustion engine car that you share so that you can be sure of having a car that is capable of long distance trips available at all times. Or you can pool your resources for both cars, switching off as needed or desired, using the electric car for short trips and the conventional car for long distance trips.

Car sharing may be difficult to understand and accept at first, especially if you associate your car with the freedom to go anywhere you want whenever you want. But freedom can also mean sharing with the people you love and pooling resources so that everyone can enjoy the fruits of their labors more.

Car sharing may not be so common today, but we see a future in which it will become more accepted and more mainstream in our society. Zipcar, one of the biggest car clubs worldwide, predicts that 10 percent of the U.S. population will take part in car sharing by the year 2025.

Change your car

This may sound extreme, but buying an electric car is also symbolic of the change that you want in your life. The type of person who usually invests in an electric car is one who has recently retired, changed careers, or transferred to a new location. Investing in an electric car is an investment in a cleaner planet and a cleaner way of living, and it is freedom from the chains that anchor our wallets to the gas pump.
