Electric Car Charging Stations

Charging stations for electric cars can now be found in most cities and towns. They can be found in car parks, roadside parking areas and even in shopping districts. This has happened because more and more, people in all parts of the world are discovering a cleaner and more efficient way of getting from here to there. Along the way, this shift in consciousness has brought about a need for more accessible technology to keep the power going, and environmental groups, politicians, electric companies and electric car manufacturers banded together to establish more car charging points.

In some locales, businesses such as restaurants, hotels, pubs, service stations and shops have made charging facilities available to their customers. These charging services are usually free for their customers but cost a small fee for non-customers.

Electric cars are simply not meant to be used for driving long distances. A battery can only hold a charge for so long before needing a recharge, so if you are going on a trip that is within the range of your car, but where you can stop for some time once you reach your destination, it is best to charge as soon as you have reached your destination. By doing this, you can increase your car’s range to twice its normal range. This means that if your car has a range of 80 miles then you can travel up to 160 miles in one day if you charge it once you get to your destination.

It is common for owners of electric cars to make several short trips throughout the day. When you add up the distances of these short trips, it can often exceed the normal range of the electric car. The best thing to do is to charge the car in between trips so that your range is increased.

With fast charging, you can charge your car in just a couple of minutes. In the coming years, this fast charging network will become more available and electric car owners will be able to recharge their car batteries up to 80 percent in just 20 minutes or less. With fast charging stations, electric car drivers will be able to travel longer distances just by making several stops to recharge their car during the journey. At present, there is still no fast charging network available in any country in the world.Even without the fast charging stations, some electric car owners have been able to travel long distances. They just figure in 1-2 hour stops into the total travel time in order to charge their cars. It takes careful planning and knowing your route well so that you can plan for the charge station stops that will get you where you want to be, but it is entirely possible to travel a distance of 120 to 140 miles per day using an electric car with a normal range of only 40 miles.
