out of recycled materials reduces the air pollution by 74 percent and reduces water pollution by 43 percent, as compared to the manufacturing process using virgin wood pulp.

  1. “Transporting all the recyclable materials to different locations in the country causes a lot of pollution.”

It is a fact that there are only a few recycling facilities in the country. Hence, there is some amount of pollution involved, as there are times, when there is transportation of materials through long distances. However, with the increasing believers in recycling, there is opening of more and more processing facilities in various local areas. With the introduction of more markets and practical uses for recycled products, the market value of the product also increases.

  1. “Rinsing the bottles and cans for recycling uses a lot of energy, so it is better to just throw them in the trash.”

You can save water and energy in washing your bottles and cans for recycling by washing them right after you wash your dishes at home.

  1. “Recycling is a long process and takes up too much space.”

You can minimize the space occupied by your recyclable materials in your trash by using a separate container for them. Recycling is a very simple process, which will take no time at all once you know how to do it the right way.

  1. “Taking the label off all the materials takes too much time and is a lot of trouble to do.”

It is not necessary to remove all the labels from the bottles and cans for recycling. What is important is that you rinse those that contained food before you put them in the recycling bin.

  1. “There is a high volume of green glass so most of them just get thrown away.”

There is no throwing away of green glass, even if there is a huge volume of them. What we discard are glass loads that are contaminated. At present, there are more uses discovered for glass, so there is a bigger demand for recycled glass in the market. There are in fact several great uses for glass materials – refer to the ‘glass’ section in the A-Z Guide.

  1. “Recycled products are low in quality.”

Products made out of recycled materials are of the same, if not better, in quality than products made from new materials. All over the world, aircrafts for commercial and military use run on retread tires. Recycled materials are high in quality because even aircrafts, where quality is very important for their safety, use retread tires.

Glass, aluminum and some types of plastic can be recycled time and over again, without losing any of their quality. Paper, on the other hand, can only be recycled for a certain number of times, because the paper fibers deteriorate each time they are recycled. However, paper can still be recycled and processed into other types of products. A lot of paper manufacturers usually use a combination of new, long fibers and recycled paper fibers in manufacturing new paper.

  1. “Products made out of recycled materials are sold at a high price.”
